And he’s every woman’s dirty fantasy in the state of California.., except one… Quinn Ashby.
Recent graduate of Penn and top of her class, Quinn is whip smart, ambitious and interning as the new marketing coordinator for the Bexley Bruisers American Hockey League team. The last thing she needs is to waste her time on guys…especially one as lethal to her focus as Cash Brooks.
But once the bad boy hockey star tempts her into his world, threatening her professional future, she’s forced to decide whether to let him into her heart…or to leave him behind forever.
Do you know Hockey? Are you familiar with the endless testosterone battles going on, on and off the ice? I have not seen a professional hockey game, just a few of my nephews games in high school and younger. I have come to like the game because of watching them on occasion and the stories I have read about hockey players.
Cash is your hotshot hockey player with a bad boy rep. He can play the game and is one of the best in the league, but with his drinking, drugs, and fighting he has now been reduced to the minors. He has been trying to stay sober and clean, but it is not easy when that life style is surrounding you on all fronts. He finds his inspiration in the memories of his mother and brother, but he still feels a void that he cannot fill. When Cash sets his eyes on a gorgeous women wearing little white mittens in the hockey rink, during one of his games, he feels an instant need to have her. Well at least for the night. But Quinn isn’t a puck bunny. She knows guys like Cash her whole life. Her father has warned her away from men like that, and she is determined to keep him beyond arms reach from her. Problem, Cash won’t take a hint. He is determined to conquer Quinn in the bedroom.
When he finds out who Quinn is and her connection to the team he feels as if fate is smiling down on him. Now he has ever opportunity to see her and request her presents. He uses every trick up his sleeve to win her attention. He has never worked so hard to win a woman over. However, the more he spends time with her and now sleeping with her the more he comes to care of Quinn. He begins to trust her and open up, but still keeps many secrets close to his chest. Things that he is ashamed of.
Quinn’s walls against Cash begin to break down bit by bit, and her heart falls for him the more he opens to her. She can tell though that he is still holding back and not opening up completely. He wants her to open up to him and trust him, but how can her when he still want answer some questions about himself and his past. She isn’t sure if waiting for Cash to open up to her is going to be worth giving up her dream of attending Harvard’s Business School. Now she must decide between the two.
When Cash’s secret final comes out it becomes the final straw that breaks the camel’s back. Leave this couple with two broken hearts. We are left on a cliff hanger.
Here are a few things that knocked some points off for this book.
- Fake locations mixed with real ones? Serious? Bexley and Santa Ana? Either use all real locations and fake teams, or fake locations and fake teams. I mean, having half and half was weird and confusing.
- Not ONCE! Not Once!!!! Did these two talk about birth control, condoms, pill, pull-out etc. I mean they should have had that conversation. Especially since Cash was a man whore, who slept with a ton of women. He couldn’t even count them all. Man Whore and she thought it was okay to not have the safe sex talk??? L
- The conflict between Quinn and her boss Thomas, was weird. I mean the guy liked her (supposedly) but was like 15 years older than her and trying to seduce her. That whole dynamic was just odd.
- For it being book one and not an ARC I was surprised by the amount of errors I found. I usually do not talk about errors because the bulk of my book reviews come from ARC, and they are still going through final edits. However, Perfect Sense has already been published. I think the editor needs to go back through it with a fine tooth comb.
Overall I read this book in preparation for book two.
My review of book two will be coming out shortly.
