Daniel has been best friends with Rose since they were born. He’s been in love with her for years. The only problem? She has no idea, and he’s not about to tell her and ruin their friendship. The solution? Leave Chicago to travel the world, pursue his dream of becoming a photojournalist, and try to forget the red lips that he could kiss for hours. If only she’d let him…
Rose knows true love is out there somewhere; she just has to try hard enough to find it. That’s become more complicated, though, since her best friend Daniel has moved in with her after being away for two years. Somehow thoughts of him keep getting in the way, making her morning showers a little too hot for comfort. If only he’d see…
In Helena Rac’s second novel, best friends become roommates and discover through sloppy towel tucks, stargazing adventures, and a very sexy photo shoot that sometimes love can be found in the most unlikely place: right in front of you.
Received an ARC provided by Netgalley on behalf of Barclay Publicity in exchange for an honest review.
Your best friend can come in any shape and size. It all depends on the connection the two of you have. There is always something that bonds friends together. It could be a love a superhero; dry sarcasm; movies they love to hate and hate to love; families can be the reason someone becomes your closes friend. For Daniel and Rose they were born on the same day and their parents all became friends. Even through the ups and downs of their family lives they continued to seek out one another for comfort and acceptances.
I think the prologue gives a good idea of what the story is all about.
Daniel desires to be a photo journalist. He wants to travel and capture images of the world around him. Rose wants to party, well plan parties. She loves organizing and throwing big shin-digs. Rose is more outgoing and assertive, while Daniel is more reserved and stand offish. The two balance each other perfectly. Now the only problem was, Rose only looked and Daniel like her best friend from so long ago. Daniel, however, has been in love with Rose since they were 19. Now he thinks he lost his chance with her. He decided to leave for two years in hopes to move on from his constant desire for Rose.
When Daniel gets back from his two year world-wind trip, he not only acts different, but looks different two. He is more filled out, geeky-hot, with a tattoo too. She can’t help but have him now staring in all her wet dream fantasies. It freaks her out. Why can’t she just have a normal friendship with him, like in the past?
Daniel knows that one look at Rose and the two years away did nothing to erase his desire for her. It’s his chance now, but is he already too late again?
Rose and Daniel dance around their attraction, desire, and longing for one another. Daniel is too scared to change the relationship from friends to more than friends and he is worried that Rose doesn’t see him in a romantic way. Rose loves Daniel, but she doesn’t believe that he could be her soul mate. He has been her best friend and there is no good changing that status in their relationship when there is a possibility of losing each other all together.
Daniel and Rose are both to chicken to do anything. The story is all about the ‘what-ifs’ and the ‘unknown’ regarding relationships.
It is actually a fast read and was fun. Once the two get out of their heads and face reality, their finally see what they have been missing all this time. That they are perfect for one another.
I enjoyed this fun, classic, best-friends to more story line.
It is available on Kindle Unlimited. So why not read it?
If you do not have KU, it is only .99 cents.
