Personal Thoughts with some Spoilers

I guess I am in a Werewolf kind of mood, because that is all I have wanted to read. I am currently rereading the Grey Wolves series by Quinn Loftis, and in my quest to find something else intriguing I came upon this book on Netgalley.

I received an ARC for an honest review from Netgalley.

Katalina, or A.K.A Kat, was adopted. She was left on the Winter’s doorstep around the age of six-months. They raised her as her own. Kat never questioned anything about her biological parents, because she was happy with the way her life was.

On the night of her 18th birthday, tragedy strikes. Kat and her parents were driving home, on a cold snow day in Michigan. They were run-off the road by a pack of wolves. Her parents died instantly.  Kat was pulled from the burning vehicle by a wolf. The pack of wolves began to attack her, but with the help of her German shepherded Arne, Kat and he try escape. One of the wolves comes up to her and changes into a little boy; Kat is dumbfounded  when the boy yells at her to “run!”  Her and Arne hid in a shed. Not long after they are discovered by a large black wolf, who looks at her and then leaves.

When Kat wakes up from consciousness she realizes nothing was a dream. She discovers, not only are her adopted parents dead, but she was saved by a pack of werewolves, who proclaim to her that she is one of them.

Bass Evernight in human and wolf form.
I REALLY liked this story. I enjoyed that Kat wasn’t a passive girl. She took action whenever she could. She didn’t let her biological father – who was the Alpha – tell her what to do. She didn’t fall madly in love with the boy she was betrothed to. No matter what she stayed firm in her beliefs.
Sebastian Evernight, A.K.A Bass, saw Kat and knew there was something about her he couldn’t let go of. He was trained his entire life to kill her, but one look at the girl, he just couldn’t do it. His wolf wouldn’t let him do it.

Like Romeo and Juliet these two star-crossed-lovers meet and instead of hating one another, they fall in love. Due to past generations of conflict and killings among the two packs, any type of relationship that is not of the loathing is forbidden by the alphas. The two Alphas also happened to be Bass and Kat fathers. Regardless of the feud between River Run and Dark Shadow packs, Bass and Kat’s relationship blooms the more often they meet in secret. No matter the problems between all the people/werewolves around them they are determined to be with one another, and no one will stand in their way; not even each other.

So, the question to answer. Is this book worth your time? Yes! If you are paranormal lover and like the shapeshifter concept this is up your alley. Enjoy the book and let me know what you think.
