Peter and the Starcatcher by Ridley Pearson

peterPeter and the Starcatchers

Don’t even think of starting this book unless you’re sitting in a comfortable chair and have lots of time. A fast-paced, impossible-to-put-down adventure awaits as the young orphan Peter and his mates are dispatched to an island ruled by the evil King Zarboff. They set sail aboard the Never Land, a ship carrying a precious and mysterious trunk in its cargo hold, and the journey quickly becomes fraught with excitement and danger.
Discover richly developed characters in the sweet but sophisticated Molly, the scary but familiar Black Stache, and the fearless Peter. Treacherous battles with pirates, foreboding thunderstorms at sea, and evocative writing immerses the reader in a story that slowly and finally reveals the secrets and mysteries of the beloved Peter Pan.

Orphan boy Peter and his friends are loaded onto the Never Land , a dungeon-like ship, to become servants to King Zarboff the Third, an evil king. On the ship, Peter meets Molly, a very mystifying girl. Also, an old, battered trunk has been carried onto the ship, emanating a powerful, magical energy. Molly explains to him that it is filled with stardust, a substance that sometimes falls from the sky and temporarily gives anyone who touches it amazing powers, like the ability to fly.

Molly is a member of the Starcatchers, a secret group devoted to protecting the stardust from being discovered. They must also keep it from the Others, another society that will use the stardust for evil purposes.

A band of pirates, led by the nefarious Black Stache, has heard of the trunk, and will stop at nothing to get it. Can Peter and his friends, Molly, and the other Starcatchers manage to keep the trunk safeguarded and prevent a worldwide war? This suspenseful novel will surely have you hooked!
This book is an adventurous prequel to the timeless classic of Peter Pan , J. M. Barrie’s famous children’s tale, explaining the answers to many questions Peter Pan fans may have about the events before Peter Pan.
For example: Why doesn’t Peter grow up? How did he get Tinker Bell? How did pixie dust come to be? Peter is admirable: clever, brave, and a loyal friend. Molly is also smart and courageous. The likable characters (and non-likable ones) and pulse-pounding plot make for an exciting story!
