Emilia Moretti’s is sixteen and attends the School of the Performing Arts in New York City. She has been blessed with an easy life: going to the Hampton’s during the summer; spending time with friends; hanging out with her brother and his best friend Nick Grawsky – who she is secretively in love with. This summer everything is different. No Hamptons, no friends and no hanging out with her brother. What is a girl to do?
Nick has had a crush on Emilia for over a year, but has been sworn off her, by his best friend. Nick is notorious for being non-committal, but that is the last thing he would want to do to Emilia.
Nick’s home situation doesn’t help either. He does everything he can to find an escape from his house of constant arguing and facade; but, when Emilia needs his help in finding her birth parents Nick does whatever he can to help her. Regardless of the back-handed deals he has to make with his dad to get the information Emilia would need.

Regardless of the back-handed deals he has to make with his dad to get the information Emilia would need.Emilia needs to focus on her dancing, hoping it will take her mind and heart off Nick. The more time she spends with him, the harder she falls in love. She proposes to Nick that they find comfort in each other for just the summer and at the end go their back to just being friends. One summer as being friends with benefits, how could Nick turn down such a deal. No strings attached for either of them.
What will happen once these two reach the end of summer?
I received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review. I had a difficult time with this book. I wanted to like it, but it seemed there were too many subplots going on, and no resolution to anything.
I think the point of this one, wasn’t just to introduce us to these characters, but to see Emilia realize that she only needs those people that really care about her. The rejection from her birth mother was super harsh. The author has a second book coming out in September 2015. I hope we will see Emilia grow as a strong, more
independent person. She has always relied on others. Her friends, her brother, her parents, her dancing, but now that she is losing each of those thing bit-by-bit I believe she will have to stand up on her own two feet.
3) Seeking birth parents.
4) Father and Mother divorce/separation
6) Being told what to do by aggressive
father, out of fear.
7) Lying, growing up.
8) School / Dance
– Are Nick and Emilia together or not together? They just kiss and we are supposed to think everything is all peaches?- So is Emilia going to tell her parents she meet Claire Carter?I don’t know. I mean if you read the book and don’t agree with anything I am saying that is perfectly fine with me. Just explain to me then why we are left wondering. We are not even given a sliver to go with.
I will give this book a 3 star rating. Why, after I just chewed it out. Well, because the book has promise. It has a good foundation and the characters are not that bad. It just needs to pick a few themes and stick with them instead of having a tone and barely covering the surface of each. .
